Support Us

Every year the Osa Sea Turtle Conservation Program records datafrom more than 4000 female nesting attempts, which are threatened by poachers, domestic and native animals and habitat disturbance, and releases at least 15,000 turtle hatchlings into the sea. Your donation will support:

• Protection of critical habitats for nesting by endangered sea turtles , including Olive ridley, Pacific Green and Leatherback.
• Reduced nest poaching by humans and domestic animals, as well as protection of nests from natural erosion and inundation.
• Educational outreach in the local community: why and how to protect sea turtle populations
• Increased understanding of the current status of sea turtle populations in this geographic region and the best protection methodologies

There are three ways that you can support this conservation effort:

1. DONATIONS

Monetary donations are used to cover salaries for local field assistants, equipment, educational materials, and subsidies for local high-school students interested in carrying out sea turtle conservation projects.

2. ADOPTION PROGRAM

The adoption you will undertake in our Program is symbolic, meaning you are not physically adopting, but you are offering support in order to protect the sea turtles and their habitats. The options are renewed each year, and you may undertake whichever ones you prefer.  When you request an adoption you can give a name to your turtle and you will receive in exchange a certificate of adoption, information about the turtle, an annual subscription to our bulletin and your name will be registered in the database of co-financing people.

The funds received through the “Adoption” program are channeled directly to the support and continuous efforts of the conservation activities, such as the conservation projects that we carry out in sea turtles nesting beaches.

Join our sea turtle conservation actions, participate in our “Adoption” program and contribute for the survival of these incredible animals that currently face extinction. If you adopt a babye turtle, nest, adult, hatchery, beach sector or an adult female with a satellite transmitter you will be contributing to this arduous work and will receive in exchange:
